Statement

“I’m influenced by my surroundings in Florida; the bright light, the brilliant blues, and greens of the Gulf of Mexico, the interesting shapes and color combinations of the tropical plants I see when I look out my studio window.

While my artwork is inspired by nature, it remains abstract. The vibrancy, the colors and shapes interest me. Taking the original apart and, with the help of various techniques, putting it together in a different way. One can still recognize the source, but not in a literal way.

Experimentation is an integral part of my artwork. I like to combine different techniques such as collage, inks, acrylics, silver leaf and resin. I have a concept of what I would like to achieve, but there are always unpredictable aspects and surprise effects that happen when one works with inks and collage. That is what makes it so interesting to create a new piece.”
